MULTIDISCIPLINARY APPROACH TO THE DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF SUBACUTE THYROIDITIS
Abstract
Subacute thyroiditis (De Quervain thyroiditis, granulomatous thyroiditis) is an inflammatory disease of a thyroid gland more frequently of a virus etiology, at which the destructive thyrotoxicosis is combined with a pain syndrome in the neck and symptomatology of an acute infectious disease. The tactics of examination and complex treatment of subacute thyroiditis has been stated. In treatment of subacute thyroiditis it is necessary to consider possible application of surgery if conservative treatment is impossible. Multidisciplinary approach to diagnostics and treatment of this disease enables to diagnose the pathology in due time to carry out conservative and surgical treatment and to have a favourable prognosis.
